Projects
A collection of various personal projects I’ve worked on over the last few years. In no particular order
mapix.co.uk
A Google maps powered photo site. Enabling users to add their photos to a map of the UK. Mostly created as a project to learn more about AJAX and working with the Google Maps API. Unfortunately sites like Flickr also had the same idea so not much came of it in the long term. Still it was an interesting exercise.
State of decay: Unmaintained but functional.
DEB2TGZ
A site that automatiacally repackages Debian .debs into .tar.gz files. Put together when I got a Linkstation NAS device and I got tired of repackaging .deb files manually to deploy then.
State of decay: Occasionally maintained, mostly self updating.
YourNextBus dashboard widget
A widget for the OS X dashboard that displays bus timetable information for various parts of the UK including West Yorkshire.
State of decay: I still use this fairly frequently so it will receive any maintenance required.
Photos
Photos are available across two sites and are still being worked into one. Details to follow.
Star Wars Gamer
An old Star Wars games site I used to run.
State of decay: Not maintained. I try to keep the download links available as for some of them they are the only source on the internet.
What Facebook Applications Know About You
A Facebook application I put together to present the information that Facebook makes available over its API in a more human readable format.
State of decay: Only recently completed, will be maintained if anyone asks for any improvements, otherwise should just run itself.
My Wikipedia Edits (on Facebook)
My first Facebook application. A really simple app that displays your most recent Wikipedia edits on your Facebook profile page.
State of decay: Maintained as required.
GalAxML
An alternative front end for the old Gallery 1.4 web app. It was designed to run in AxKit or as a CGI. It worked by creating an XML presentation of the Gallery data then using XSLT to present to the end user.
State of decay: Pretty much deceased. Not updated for more recent Gallery versions.
BBC News Ticker for SliMP3
I wrote a BBC news ticker for the original SliMP3, the device that has gone on to become Squeezebox. The original version was perhaps the first ‘plugin’ for the SlimServer software and was a hack into the ‘games section of the player. Later is was redesigned to work with the new plugin architecture.
State of decay: Dead.
